Opportunity Austin, the economic development organization that drives investment throughout Central Texas, has named a manufacturing industry veteran as its first full-time CEO. Ed Latson, currently CEO of the Austin Regional Manufacturers Association, will take charge of Opportunity Austin on Oct. 21. The naming of Latson comes as Opportunity Austin shifts to being an independent entity after years of operating as part of the Austin Chamber of Commerce. 'Ed's passion and deep commitment to the Austin region, coupled with his success at ARMA, undoubtedly makes him the right choice for CEO,' said Gary Farmer, interim CEO and chairman of Opportunity Austin.
