I worked at Wheatsville many years ago when it was more of a small community store. I don't like some of the changes with the deli and I think the food bar is overpriced. They have fired great staff over the years for minor violations that everyone there had been guilty of at some time or another. They don't pay the staff a living wage, yet the manager, Dan, makes a very decent salary. My granddaughter sustained a serious burn on her hand when she was walking by a hot bar one day. She is only 4 and was not being unruly at all. She just accidentally grazed her hand across it. Dan sent my daughter an incredibly lame email which did not even offer a genuine apology. He said that those kinds of hot units were commonly used in many stores. My granddaughter is fairly well traveled for a little one and has never been burned in a public place by any type of unit. They didn't even have a "danger, hot unit" sign up or anything. My daughter was way too forgiving for the 2nd degree burn her daughter received. The only reason I gave Wheatsville 2 stars, is because I still like the popcorn tofu and I know there are good people who work there. They should receive a raise.

How can you not love Wheatsville? Friendly local grocery with fresh produce, great grocery selection, and fantastic foods made in house. (Try the spicy buffalo popcorn tofu—even if you’re not vegetarian, it’s addictive!)
